I'm Pregnant!!!

I can't believe it! I am actually pregnant. Thomas and I had been having some long discussions about when to start a family. He was ready, but I wasn't at all sure. When I started to experience some symptoms, I took a test. When it came back positive I couldn't believe it! We were not trying to have a baby. God's timing is not always our timing. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and she confirmed that I am six weeks along, the baby is due August 16th 2010.

Antwoune, Class Dismissed....

Last Thursday, I subbed for sixth grade. I had a very interesting student named Antwoune. Antwoune wanted attention, so he proceeded to spend thirty minutes of his study hall having a full conversation with his imaginary class. I ignored him, but it was hard not to chuckle. The other students told me that he did that all the time. They also said that their teacher ignored the behavior. When 2:45 arrived and it was time to clean up, I announced to him that his class was dismissed. I have never seen anything like this in my subbing experiences. It was one for the blog.

The Singing Starbucks Coffee Man....

Friday night after the Christmas party, Amy suggested that we stop by Starbucks for a coffee. There was an interesting fellow behind the counter. He sang jingles from t.v. commercials,
Toys R'Us being one of them. I just kept looking over at Amy and giggling. I had never seen anything like it.

Women's Ministry Candle Exchange...

Friday night I went to the Women's Ministry Christmas party. I had so much fun! I got to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. We played a scripture game and I won a prize. Then we exchanged candles. When we found the gift that matched our number, we prayed for the person who gave it to us. The food was so good, and the restaurant had a mariache band play for us. It was so nice! Glad that I went.

Berry Middle School Choir...

Monday the Berry Middle School Girls Choir came in and sang for the 5th and 6th grade students. They really did a good job with their Christmas songs. I was really impressed. The students really enjoyed hearing them. It was a good way for them to see what they may want to do in their middle school futures.

Redneck Doghouse...

While Cousin Daniel was in town, he helped my husband build a temporary doghouse for my mom's dog Benny. It was the saddest little house that I have ever seen.

They assembled it out of discarded pallets.

Here is the inside.

The finished project.
They also covered the outside with tarps to keep out the rain. The redneck doghouse will serve as temporary shelter for Benny when the nights aren't to cold. On those evenings we bring him in the house.

Are You Sleepy???

I subbed for kindergarten last week, and as you know kindergartners keep you laughing. Being a little sleepy after the holiday, I let out a large yawn and a little boy noticed. Are you sleepy? He asked me innocently. I told him that I was a little tired. Then he asked the funniest question, "Did your husband snore last night and keep you awake?" It was so hard not to bust into hysterics!!

The Document Camera....

I had an interesting experience in 5th grade just before Thanksgiving. A new device called a document camera was brought to class to replace the overhead projector. The kids oohed and ahhed over it. I explained to them that the brand name of the device was Elmo. They automatically broke out into the song, " La La La, La La La, Elmo's World!" It was hard not to laugh!
